Community

Sick Town is dedicated to giving back to our local communities in diverse ways.  We participate in several charitable events throughout the year, as well as choosing a beneficiary for each home bout.  In addition to fundraisers at these home bouts, we always do a canned food drive for the Linn-Benton Food Share.

Polar Plunge for Special Olympics of Oregon

Participants form a team, and each member of the team has to raise a minimum of $50.  Then, on a chilly day in February, all the teams gather in their best garb and costumes to take the plunge!  Plungers in the Corvallis area took a quick, frigid dip in the Willamette.

This year, Sick Town partnered with KLOO FM to form Team Ice Cubes!  Our fundraising efforts were significant, and we were sure we were in the lead for donations.  Then, at the last minute, one sneaky team turned in their last minute donations for the win.  That’s one game we don’t mind losing!

Jackson Street Youth Shelter

The Jackson Street Youth Shelter is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is “to fill a gap in local support services for housing homeless youth.” They serve Linn and Benton counties with a house in both Albany and Corvallis, housing up to 12 youth per night.

The JSYS is always looking for volunteers to work with their staff to supervise and mentor shelter residents.  For more information, or to volunteer, please visit their website.
